Day 4 of the Taos Takeover…
Four words can sum up the day—freshies, tubing, tie-dye, and stuff.

There was plenty of each yesterday with some soft snow to be had off of the ridges. Scott’s group took off hiking out towards Kachina Peak while Josh and Lane played on the lower mountain. The view from the ridge is unreal looking toward Kachina Peak and out toward the valley below. Winds up top were blowing hard but the short hike was always well worth it. Dropping in just past Nino’s Heroes we found some steep and deep in the trees to keep us entertained.
Post riding, the fun took a different form. Taos went above and beyond with a private tubing party for us that was more extreme than just about anything we had ridden here. From a spinning start to the lip slide next to the trees at the end there were thrills, chills, and squeals. Gotta keep those heels up!
Tubing turned to food when the southwestern-style pizza arrived from Crossroads Pizza. And the tie-dye soon followed. Staffer Ben Roberts out dyed everyone with his hippy swirl shirt.
Then the real reasons everyone comes to Rally started with the raffle. AASI partners and industry friends kicked in to create a pretty amazing prize pool with stuff from Patagonia, Burton, Skull Candy, and the grand prizes of two boards from Rossignol and Burton. It was great because everyone walked away with more stuff from Duofold, Burton, and Taos. It was quite a haul, just ask Wendy from Ohio! And, amazing as it seems, Rusty Carr, despite a dry spell during the rest of the raffle, managed to somehow win another snowboard! How does that always seem to happen?
Today the forecast is for clear skies, temperatures in the 40’s and riding the new snow that fell and blew in last night. Can you say, “yeee-ha!”?
