Rally 2009 - Day 3
Here’s the third installment of what’s happening at the 2009 Rider Rally. Be sure to read previous posts for the full scoop!
There I was, standing at the top of St. Bernard chute and all I can think is, “Wow, what an awesome day!”
It’s the end of Day 3, our supposed day off. The crew that showed up at the bottom of Chair 1 at the crack of 9 a.m. rode ‘til the bitter end. They kept each other motivated and even played with their riding on some challenging and not-so-challenging terrain. Bluebird skies and cool temperatures kept the new snow that fell overnight soft and dry. The wind also helped out by filling in areas so the snow was even deeper.
The hike at the end of the day was the best for me just because of the view , sweet terrain, and snow we rode on the way down. The pictures only do so much justice to what Taos is really about—great terrain everywhere you look and the ability to always find stashes of soft snow somewhere on the mountain.
Forecast for Day 4 is for cooler temperatures and more snow moving in by this afternoon. Just another day in paradise!
