Rider Rally 2010 at Copper Mountain: Day 4

New snow, bluebird skies, and a snowcat—sounds like a sweet recipe for the last day of Rally 2010!Rally_2010_Day4_on_bus.JPG

Day four of Rider Rally 2010 dawned with clear, blue skies and a group of excited riders heading toward the Tucker Mountain snowcat area of Copper. The snowcat hadn’t run for four days, and Friday capped off an epic week as Rallyers got the goods! After a short hike, groups dropped into runs like Nacho and Taco with light and tasty snow! A couple of groups got two or three runs in on the snowcat, working the terrain for every bit of powder they could. Rally_2010_Day4_standing_on_mt.JPG

After shredding the freshies, the groups moved back to the front side and dropped into the park and pipe to stick a few more tricks. Groups stomped backside boardslides and backside 3’s while moving through the Copper terrain parks. The on-snow successes were complemented by the evening sessions at Camp Woodward. Despite long days on the hill, several Rallyers kept the momentum going and took advantage of Woodward access to keep working tricks on the trampolines and snowflex jumps. Off-axis backside 540? Check! Off-axis backside 720? Check! 1260? Workin’ on it!

Just like a dream, eventually it comes to an end. Copper is an amazing mountain and we rode all of it! Woodward at Copper added a really cool aspect with indoor training. The AASI Team with Dave Oliver from the PSIA Alpine Team stoked out the Rally crew with great coaching, and several attendees are already planning to return next year!

Rally 2010 provided great snow, an awesome group of snow riders to play with, and was capped off by one of the most amazing days of the season. Can’t wait for next year!
