Prerequisites:

  • 16+ years old
  • Member of PSIA-AASI – JOIN TODAY!
  • New for 2023/2024 Season:Β In order to take a Level 1 Exam, all candidates must complete an approved course of on-hill training.Β  This training must be completedΒ prior to registeringΒ for your Level 1 Exam.Β  This prerequisite can be satisfied by participating inΒ training at your home resortΒ (as long as your member school affiliation is listed in your profile), or by completing theΒ Introduction to PSIA-AASI SnowsportsΒ courses available in the Western Region events calendar.Β  Please be aware, if you attempt to register for your exam prior to completing this prerequisite, you may be removed from the registration list and/or asked to leave the exam.

Pathway:

Step 1:Β Complete theΒ Snowboard Level 1 E-Learning CourseΒ (free!) – please allow 24-hours for your profile to update before attempting to register.

Step 2: Attend Level 1 training at your home resort or complete the Introduction to PSIA-AASI Snowsports course

Step 3:Β RegisterΒ for and successfully complete the 2-day Snowboard Level 1 Exam

The Snowboard Level 1 Certification Exam is the first step in furthering your career as a snowboard instructor. This 2-day Certification Exam is an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and knowledge as well as an educational based event.

The exam gives all candidates a stronger understanding and ability to apply the teaching, learning, riding and service concepts. Riders must be comfortable on all blue, basic black and freestyle terrain.

Candidates will be required to show proficiency in meeting the required riding, teaching and movement analysis standards. Successful candidates will become a Certified Level 1 Instructor.

SB L1 Exam

Day 1

8:30am – Meet your clinician leader at the designated meeting location (a confirmation email noting the location will be emailed to you the day prior)

9:00am – 4:00pm – Plan to be on snow (lunch break will be provided)

Day 2

8:30am – Meet your clinician leader at the designated meeting location

9:00am – 4:00pm – Plan to be on snow (lunch break will be provided)

Prerequisites:

  • Maintain a current membership with PSIA-AASI
  • Snowboard Level 1 Certification OR Level 2 Certification in any another discipline
Pathway:

Step 1:Β RegisterΒ for and successfully complete the 2-day Snowboard Level 2 Ride Exam

Step 2:Β Pass the onlineΒ Snowboard Level II Professional Knowledge ExamΒ ($20) – please allow 24-hours for your profile to update before attempting to register.

Step 3:Β RegisterΒ for and successfully complete the 2-day Snowboard Level 2 Teach Exam
