Hi Everyone,

I’m posting to find out if anybody out there has some experience taking advantage of the great deals on Subaru vehicles available to us through PSIA.

If so, what does the offer (offers?) specifically entail? What is the process? Pros and Cons? And finally, is there anything else one might need to know while going down this road?

I’ll look forward to some responses. Thanks!

Ski Conditioning

With the new ski season just a little more than 4 months away its time to think about conditioning. Has anyone purchased and been happy with Avalanche Ski Training? I hate gyms and I’ve trail run and biked myself to death this summer only to gain more room for some Fat Tires, so its time to get serious.

(Adaptive?) Advice for introducing my injured companion to snowboarding?

Okay So I am looking for help in teaching my boyfriend how to snowboard. Last year he was hit by a car while on his street bike. His left hip, knee, and ankle were all shattered and have undergone a lot of surgery. His ankle is now completely inflexible (as are his toes)—we can’t even get him into standard snowboard boots.
In order to insure he has a positive snowboarding experience I have two main concerns—finding special equipment for him (boots in particular) and what techniques would be most beneficial to teaching him with minimum pain/ risk of re-injury. If anyone has advice for me or can point me in the direction of a good starting-off point I would be most obliged!

Teaching Alpine to children with Autism

I recently had a 10 year old boy with autism for a ski lesson and his parents have now scheduled more lessons with me. We established a good rapport on the first lesson and he currently skis with simple wedge turns (previously taught). We had great fun and practiced his turns but did not move beyond his current skills. I have very little experience with people with this condiditon and am looking for information that may help me help him have fun and make some degree of progress.

Where are the Women?

Welcome! This post is an effort to empower women of PSIA from around the country to share their views, ideas, and make connections in order to increase the awareness and presence of women in this organization. According to a loose poll, women make up only 20% of the organization. How can this number be increased? How can we come together to make a change?

This forum thread is also for men who are interested in contributing ideas to encourage and support women in this organization, and is meant to gauge interest from both genders in coming together to create a shift. How can we attract more women to be clinicians and examiners? To make the national teams? To be members of PSIA in the first place? Please share your thoughts and ideas!
