Skiers and snowboarders enjoy a timeless, life enhancing sport that rewards them with a sense of well-being and wonder. Taking a lesson from a professional instructor enhances the on-snow experience, and can dramatically increase the level of enjoyment for beginners, intermediates, and experts alike.
“Sliding on snow is a magical, transformative activity that instills a sense of joy and adventure in everyone who participates,” said Tom Spiess, interim CEO of Professional Ski Instructors of America and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI). “Professional instructors are committed to sharing that sense of freedom and accomplishment with everyone, helping them reach their goals in a safe, friendly, super fun environment.”
For anyone who wants to have their best winter now, PSIA-AASI’s thousands of well-trained members are happy to help. Available at ski and snowboard areas across the country, “snow pros are skilled at the art of helping you reach goals, all while having a good time doing it,” said Spiess.
Beginner Skiers and Snowboarders
If this is the year you finally realize your dream of skiing or snowboarding for the first time, PSIA-AASI members are ready to ensure your first experience is a big success. Their teaching techniques, welcoming attitude, and time-proven learning progressions are all aimed at helping you become a confident, capable skier or snowboarder as quickly as possible. Working with gentle slopes and the most up-to-date equipment, they will focus on your needs and your favorite learning style, making it as easy as possible for you to begin enjoying the sport.
Intermediate Skiers and Snowboarders
If you already love skiing or snowboarding, but want to enjoy a bigger variety of terrain, PSIA-AASI members are just as passionate about sharing all the great ways you can start mastering moguls, terrain parks, powder, and steeper slopes. Enjoy more of your local area by asking for a lesson in exactly the kind of conditions you want to ace, or get ready for your next big winter vacation with a tune-up class to get your skills – and your psyche! – up to snuff. Masters of the progressions, techniques, and tactics to help you improve rapidly, professional instructors look forward to showing you how to get more from the sport.
Expert Skier and Snowboarders
Every great skier or snowboarder started their career by taking a lesson. The best never stopped taking lessons. PSIA-AASI members coached snowboard legend Shaun White to two Olympic Gold Halfpipe medals, and help the U.S. Ski Team develop new strategies for maintaining their “Best in the World” status. Whether you want to race faster, float through powder more effortlessly, or learn a new freestyle trick, professional lessons and clinics are key to establishing the building blocks and making the most of your abilities to do exactly that.
“The best in the world at anything probably take more lessons than anyone else,” said Michael Rogan of the PSIA-AASI Alpine Team, which is comprised of some of the country’s top instructors. “If you want to get better, learn. That’s what the best are doing. And as instructors, we’re always glad you asked.”
