Several members of the PSIA Alpine Team got in some early work on the slopes of Snowbird prior to PSIA-AASI National Academy 2017, shooting a new series of instructional videos in collaboration with Warren Miller Entertainment and SKI Magazine.
The videos, which cover top tips on how to ski everything from bumps and crud to trees and steeps, will air online this coming fall and winter in conjunction with the existing instructional “Clinic” content in SKI Magazine. Each video highlights three technical considerations for improving your skiing performance in a given condition, and also encourages SKI’s readers to book a lesson with a pro at their local hill for some personalized instruction.
Alpine Team Coach Michael Rogan said the new partnership provides an exciting opportunity to promote the value of professional instruction to SKI’s active alpine followers, emphasizing how enthusiasts can up their game no matter what their level of expertise.
“For PSIA-AASI members, this provides more opportunities for our organization to be exposed to the general skiing public,” said Rogan. “This type of project is instrumental in promoting the idea that instruction is critical in helping people ski well and continue to improve, whether you’re an intermediate, advanced skier, or professional athlete competing with the best skiers in the world.”
Andy Hawk, managing director of Active Interest Media’s (AIM) Mountain Group, which is the parent company of Warren Miller Entertainment and SKI Magazine, said the partnership ensures that AIM is publishing the exact information being shared by the people who actually teach ski lessons.
“Instruction content continues to be a foundational piece of SKI, and we are excited to expand our partnership with PSIA to ensure that our audience receives the contemporary messaging that aligns with the experiences they are having with PSIA members on the hill,” Hawk said. “The expansion of video support for the print content, which will be produced by the expertise of the Warren Miller Entertainment team, is a great addition to the messaging for both organizations.”
Keep your eye out for behind-the-scenes production of this new video content in the Fall Issue of 32 Degrees, and check out SKI Magazine and www.skimag.com this fall for the top “Clinic” tips from the members of the PSIA Alpine Team.
