Three deserving female PSIA-AASI members will attend the 2019 Women’s Summit in Steamboat, Colorado, next week, as the first beneficiaries of the recently established Nancy Oakes Hall Scholarship.
Dominique Vetromile (PSIA-RM), Jenni Hogan (PSIA-RM) and Elena Gordon (PSIA-NW) will be attending the Women’s Summit January 15-17, 2019.
Dozens of women took the initiative to submit applications for the scholarship, which was founded by and named in honor of Nancy Oakes Hall, a former PSIA Alpine Team member and Aspen/Sun Valley instructor who lost a long battle with cancer in April 2018. The program awards separate scholarships each year to female members of PSIA-AASI who wish to pursue continuing education and growth opportunities in the snowsports industry.
“The Scholarship Review Committee is ecstatic that there are so many incredibly skilled and accomplished women instructors in our organization, continually seeking professional growth and wanting to contribute!” said former PSIA Alpine Team member Carol Levine, who is chair of the Nancy Oakes Hall Women’s Scholarship selection committee.
Levine also wanted to remind PSIA-AASI that, “There are two more scholarship opportunities for women instructors this 2019 season.”
The deadline for submitting an application for the National Academy 2019 scholarship, and for submitting an application for the “specific certification/specialist track” is Feb. 15. Both scholarships will be awarded at the end of February.
