Three Reasons You Need to Register for Rider Rally Right Now!

AASI Rider Rally will celebrate its 20th anniversary April 16-19 at Big Sky, Montan, the site where this wholly original shredfest for snowboard instructors was born.

Part brainchild of former AASI Snowboard Team member, previous president of the PSIA-AASI Board of Directors, and current VP of the Interski Presidium (and Montana local) Eric Sheckelton, Rider Rally is all about sharing the stoke for instruction and shredding with an ever-expanding circle of snow-surfing friends.

“In 2019, it's time to bring it back where it all began,” AASI Snowboard Team member Eric Rolls said of the event. “Just as it was originally created, we will have fun riding, promote progression, and have a plethora of choose-your-own-adventure clinics led by some of the best educators in snowboarding.”

Here, AASI Snowboard Team member Brennan Metzler shares his Three Reasons Why You Need to Register for Rider Rally Right Now (and right here).

  1. The Big Picture:The 2020 Rally is a celebration of American snowboard instruction. The Rally is turning 20 and throwing a heck of a party at its birthplace, Big Sky in Montana. AASI Snowboard Team members, association legends, and instructors from across the U.S. will come together for three days of shredding, socials, and smiles at one of North America's most iconic resorts.
  2. Big Sky is Awesome: Big Sky’s iconic Lone Peak is a rugged piece of earth a precipitous and rocky beast. And, the adventures it affords freeriders of advanced to expert abilities are almost endless. For the adrenaline-fueled crowd, the infamous "Big Couloir" is a test piece. It’s 1500 vertical feet and 50-degree slopes make for a serious and rewarding undertaking. Experts will flock to “The Headwaters” and "A to Z Chutes," where runs from open steeps to tight chutes to mandatory airs can be found. Advanced rippers will love the south side of Lone Peak, with its ridiculously long open bowls.
  3. The Western Rider Rally Community: Montana has a way about it – a grit, an honor for the individual, a natural authenticity. The Rally is a community of free-spirited shredders, dedicated true believers bent on juicing every last drop of the good stuff from their winter. Put these two realities together and you have yourself a darned good time. Translation: Big Sky is a perfect fit for what Ralliers like to do and will make our community even stronger by its very nature.
