First Chair Podcasts: Beginner Retention, Tips 4 Kids + Family of Snowboarders

Wow, it’s already February, and the snow just keeps on falling! As this winter gets closer to big events like Interski 2019, National Academy, Rider Rally, and Telemark Academy (all three of which will take place at Big Sky, Montana), these new First Chair Podcasts focus on studies, tips, and campaigns that will continue to inform professional instruction.

Remember, you can listen all the PSIA-AASI First Chair Podcasts here:

Beginner Lessons and Retention Study
Dave Belin (pictured above) is the director of consulting services for RRC Associates. In this podcast he helps you understand the lifecycle of customers who are trying skiing and snowboarding for the first time, and how to use this insight at your resort. Dave breaks down some of the reasons why people leave snowsports, what makes lapsed skiers different, and what it takes to bring these visitors with previous experience on snow back to skiing and snowboarding.

AASI + Burton Launch #AFamilyofSnowboarders Campaign
Chloe Elliot from Burton chats about a new campaign, #AFamilyofSnowboarders, being launched with the American Association of Snowboard Instructors. Help spread the word to your students, families and friends that snowboarding is a family sport. Encourage them to share their pics.

Teaching Tips for Children
Get tips on how to teach children from Stacey Gerrish, the training manager of Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School. Stacey also serves as the PSIA-AASI Rocky Mountain division children’s committee chair, education staff member, and she keeps up her racing side as a USSA sports educator.
