Every four years, PSIA-AASI selects a team of snowsports education professionals to represent the association at the highest level possible across the Adaptive, Alpine, Cross Country, Snowboard, and Telemark teaching disciplines.
Every member of the team embodies three critical attributes for success – they are inspirational educators, lifelong learners, and inspirational athletes. Their core purpose is to support the mission of inspiring lifelong passion for skiing and snowboarding.
With that in mind, and selection of the 2016-20 Team taking place in Spring 2016, assembling the manager and coaches to mentor and guide team members is a very tall order. An extensive process was designed and a talented group of people were asked to review all applicants and make recommendations on the best fit. The use of D.I.S.C. behavioral job fit benchmarking and analysis rounded out the process for additional supporting data.
The group involved in selecting the coaches and manager for the upcoming four-year term included the following: Eric Sheckleton (former PSIA-AASI Board Chair and AASI Snowboard Team member), Mark Dorsey (former PSIA-AASI CEO), Rob Sogard (PSIA Alpine Team Coach), Randy Price (former AASI Snowboard Team Coach), Katie Ertl (former PSIA-AASI Team Manager), Tom Spiess (PSIA-AASI Interim CEO) and Dave Schuiling (PSIA-AASI Director of Education).
The 2016-20 PSIA-AASI Team Manager, Coaches, and Adaptive Captain are:
Team Manager: Jeb Boyd – Alpine Team member, PSIA-E Examiner Coach
Adaptive Captain: Geoff Krill – Adaptive Team member, PSIA-E Examiner, Executive Director of Eastern Adaptive Sports (In this new position, Krill will provide guidance for team members with adaptive teaching backgrounds on each discipline-specific team.)
Alpine Coach: Michael Rogan – Alpine Team Captain, USSA/USST Fundamental Skills and Technique Coach
Nordic Coach: David Lawrence – Nordic Team member, PSIA-NW Examiner, Lookout Pass Snowsports Director
Snowboard Coach: Scott Anfang – Snowboard Team member, AASI-RM Examiner and Committee Chair
“We are very excited to assemble this new leadership team, which will help select and guide the direction of the PSIA-AASI Team to support our association and membership,” said Spiess. “The PSIA-AASI Teams have always represented the best attributes of top-notch instructors, and the guidance provided by the manager and coaches has been invaluable. The leaders selected for the 2016-20 term will undoubtedly continue that tradition of excellence.”
“I couldn’t be happier with the recommendations for these outstanding leaders, and I look forward to working closely with this team to support education and professional development for all of our members and member schools,” said Schuiling. “And hat’s off to the dedicated service of current coaches passing the torch after Team Selection in 2016. They’ve set the association on a solid course for the future.”
Please welcome and congratulate this talented group of educators and thank them in advance for the incredible amount of work that lies ahead. With great leadership comes incredible passion, energy, and commitment from these devoted members of our association!
