Course Description:

This clinic will prepare participants for the Alpine Level 2 Skiing/Technical Assessment by addressing general skiing skills while skiing all conditions on blue terrain and groomed advanced terrain. Participants will work to impact overall performance through improved understanding and application of the alpine technical fundamentals through the assessment lense. Technical Skills Clinic, Full Day, On-Snow. Qualifies as Assessment Prep Clinic or Continuing Education

L2 Skiing Assessment Prep Clinic

Description: This clinic is designed to target individual and group needs as they pertain to the skiing skills assessment module. Candidates can expect to have technical discussion as they pertain to both individual and group movement patterns as well as receive feedback on their skill application.

Skiing Skills Clinic, Full Day, On-Snow. Qualifies as Assessment Prep Clinic or Continuing Education. Open to level 1 certified instructors, with specific intent of expanding participants understanding of the assessment process and their skiing skills application.

* Prep clinics are recommended for all three prep clinics (People/Teaching skills, Technical skills, and Skiing skills). One prep clinic, or equivalent event, is required to participate in certification assessments each calendar year. Participation in assessment orientation is required for each assessment topic that a participant did not receive a clinic in.

Terrain: Participants should be prepared to ski in blue ungroomed terrain and blue to black groomed terrain, as the group/clinic topic requires.

Assessment Prep Goal: This clinic will prepare participants for the Alpine Level 2 Skiing Assessment, by focusing on ski and body performance specific skills.

Continuing Education Goal: Impact overall performance through improved understanding and application of the alpine technical fundamentals.

Clinic Outcomes: By the end of this clinic, participants will:

· Receive feedback on personal performance related to pressure, edging, and rotary control skills.

· Integrate new and/or enhanced performance skills into their skiing.

· Be able to compare their performance to the Level 2 Technical Standard.

· Have new resources that support independent practice.

Clinic Experiences:

· The clinic leader and participants will collaborate to determine a relevant goal related to ski and body performance outcomes.

· The clinic leader will demonstrate how to apply specific aspects of pressure, edging, and rotary control using activities and drills from the NI Assessment Activity grid as well as other applicable sources.

· Participants will practice skiing skills in isolation and/or in combination with other skills.

· The clinic leader and participants will collaborate to identify specific sensations created by a variety of movements that will inform effective practice.

· The clinic leader will facilitate reflection about the day's goal and other relevant experiences.
