An Education Staff Member will evaluate the candidate's skiing, teaching, and technical skills against PSIA Level 1 National Standards. Candidates will be given teaching assignments related to the beginner zone. The assignments, and the order of presentation, may be handed out in several ways: randomly, with candidates determining their order, on paper/selected with a specific order pre-determined, or by other means. Skiing skills: free runs, the performance of at least four Skiing Benchmarks, and situational skiing (including teaching demos and skiing during peers' teaching segments) will be evaluated. Candidates are allotted approximately (typically) 20 minutes for teaching demos, the exact time to be determined by your group leader.

Feedback: The candidate will receive a written evaluation at the end of the event. Scoring and feedback require thought and time from the examiners. Please be patient and understand they are working as efficiently as possible.

Further information on preparing for the Alpine Level I Certification Pathway can be found on the Alpine Education & Certification Page.
