Job Summary: Palisades Tahoe is seeking Ski Instructors of all experience levels to promote the sport of skiing with exceptional guest service by providing safe, enjoyable and effective ski lessons for kids and adults.

Job Details:

  • Seasonal, full-time and part-time positions available supporting the Palisades Tahoe Ski School
  • Role will frequently be exposed to and immersed in winter weather conditions

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Assures customer satisfaction with safe, friendly and efficient service.
  • Provides exceptional guest service to students and guests of all ages through personable use of modern teaching techniques.
  • Instructs and educates guests of all ages in and skiing, using modern teaching techniques. Maintains an environment of safety, fun and learning.
  • Clarify customer’s expectations and goals at the beginning of each lesson.
  • Provides individual or group instruction on skiing.
  • Analyzes problems and resolves them in a positive and safe manner.
  • Selects appropriate terrain for skills being developed.
  • Use effective pacing that is appropriate for students ability level.
  • Participates in snowboard or skiing clinics to keep current with the most modern and efficient teaching methods and techniques.
  • Communicates daily with fellow staff to maintain awareness of mountain operations and activities.

Education and Experience:

Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • PSIA or AASI certification, and/or Children’s Accreditation
  • Teaching experience in a sports setting with children ages 3-13.
  • Recreation, education, or child development background
  • Customer service experience in a resort setting

The base hourly pay range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC’s hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base hourly pay range is dependent upon experience and certification level;

Non-certified Instructor: $18.68 – $24.28

Level 1 Instructor: $20.54 – $26.71

Level 2 Instructor: $22.60 – $29.38

Level 3 Instructor: $24.86- $39.10

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, see, hear, and ski. Must be capable of walking, standing and skiing 90% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will continuously be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Ski School Supervisor is responsible for the lesson assignments, direction and leadership of the activities of the Ski & Ride School Instructors and sales staff, and maximization of the guest’s ski lesson experience in a cost effective manner. Major duties will include: guest service at lesson sales locations, hiring, scheduling, class assignments, training and evaluating of sales and instructor staff. These Supervisors must demonstrate superior interpersonal skills, and the understanding of business principles and efficient organizational skills. They will follow all policies and procedures, all applicable laws (federal, state, and local), and all health and sanitation codes.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Assist manager in supervising a team of 15-30 employees. Assist in supervisory responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Supervise the daily operation, including but not limited to; guest check-in, class assignments, getting classes out in a timely manner, checking on classes and assisting instructors on hill, entering class data in Flaik, facility upkeep and cleanliness.
  • Comply with Federal and California Labor law in all phases of the payroll and employment process; from hiring through termination, as well as all Company policies & procedures.
  • Enforce safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assists with coordination of the different programs in the Adult School.
  • Carries out daily procedures to aid in effective personnel and financial management of the Snow Sports School.
  • Assists in various marketing promotional programs to promote Snow Sports School programs.
  • Records and maintains files for various Ski and Snowboard School programs.
  • Actively leads the quality and direction of Instructor Training.
  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties.
  • Teaches group and private lessons.

Competencies and Job Requirements:

Required:

  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact with others
  • Working knowledge of computers including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
  • Advanced skiing and/or snowboarding skills, teaching skills, and PSIA/AASI certifications.
  • Working knowledge of PSIA/AASI teaching principles and techniques.
  • Ability to lead and direct employees and serve customers under intense conditions.

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • PSIA/AASI level 1 certification or equivalent.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • PSIA/AASI level 3 certification.
  • One-year supervisory experience
