Mountain Sports School Manager

Job Summary:

The Sports School Manager is responsible for leading Brundage Mountain Resort’s Winter Ski & Ride and Summer Sports Schools to deliver innovative, guest-centric programs and services in a safe and fun environment for local and destination skiers, snowboarders, and bikers of all ages and levels. This role is expected to manage the daily operations of the mountain sports schools including child care and children’s programming while also generating sales, staff performance management, financial responsibility, and developing initiatives to align with overall organizational goals to enhance the guest experience. The Sports School Manager will also oversee the development of Brundage’s rapidly growing summer mountain biking operation. We are looking for a passionate, experienced & positive person to take the experience to the next level for our guests and staff.

 

Essential Responsibilities & Job Duties 

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Provide inspiration, leadership, oversight, and direction to Brundage Mountain’s Ski & Ride and Summer Sports School and Day Care operations
  • Evaluate existing and create potential new programs and lesson offerings
  • Evaluate prices/packages against competitors to attract and retain business and grow revenue
  • Work closely with other departments to plan future facilities, terrain modifications, marketing programs and technological improvements to enhance the guest and staff experience
  • Actively participate in Resort Leadership Team and Manager meetings to help drive a highly effective and accountable management culture
  • Be financially accountable for all functions of the Ski & Ride and Summer Sports School including building acceptable budgets and adjusting labor/expenses according to business levels to match projected revenues
  • Provides direction and guidance to AWeSOMe, our partner for Adaptive Sports

 

Operational Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the Ski & Ride and Summer Sports School programs including skiing, snowboarding, development and management of the overall bike program instructional concept, children’s programs winter and summer, and Day Care
  • Responsible for all facets of the operation including safety initiatives, staff scheduling, training, budgeting, and working with the sales department to provide a seamless experience for guests
  • Communicate, implement, and enforce clear and consistent guidelines for all aspects of service to guests and staff of all backgrounds and experience
  • Recruit/hire the best staff to deliver memorable experiences to all guests and embody the culture of Brundage
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback and coaching to the staff in teaching, guest service, work assignments, and safety. Consults with supervisors in the documentation of regular instructor performance and feedback
  • Manage products within the sales system as well as train, support and supervise staff that will be using the sales/booking/scheduling software
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of workspace, outdoor terrain, equipment, and other assets
  • Focus on accident prevention and train employees in proper safety procedures
  • Take immediate and appropriate action to correct unsafe work practices or facilities
  • Provide proper training for child safety including policies and procedures

Job Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of management experience in Snowsports operations
  • PSIA level 2 or 3 certification required, PMBIA certification or equivalent preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  • High level of business and industry acumen
  • Have excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • Knowledge of Entabeni point of sale system a plus
  • Team player and proven leadership abilities

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to regularly lift 50 pounds
  • Must pass a criminal history and employment background check
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and pass an insurance driving history inquiry
  • Must work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed
