Snowsports School Director

Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego Michigan is seeking Snow Sports School Director for the resort. The Snow Sports School Director is responsible for managing all aspects of the Snow Sports School which includes developing and supervising the skiing and riding instruction programs for guests of Bittersweet Ski Resort, with an emphasis on safety, learning, and generating revenue. They are also responsible for planning and promoting program offerings, scheduling personnel, communicating schedules, coordinating training, supervising, and directing snow sports staff, and following up on assignments provided. The Snow Sports School Director will also coordinate and conduct recreational events as requested. The Snow Sports Director will report directly to the General Manager and works closely with the Office Manager.

Bittersweet Ski Resort, located in Southwest Michigan, is a premier ski and ride resort with 350 feet of vertical drop. At Bittersweet guests enjoy 6 lifts (included 2 high speed chairlifts), 20 runs, and many lodge amenities.

The Snow Sports Director works primarily at Bittersweet Ski Resort. Daily activities may include standing or being seated for extended periods, skiing and/or riding, walking on steep grades, climbing ladders, and exposure to cold winter conditions and/or hot summer conditions. Work outside the normal workday will be required as is necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and/or meet critical deadlines. Weekend and holiday work will also be required.

Essential Duties (this list is not exhaustive):

• Manage all aspects of the Snow Sports School team member experience including but not limited to hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, appreciation/recognition, and offboarding of team members. Assure accurate and timely reporting of company payroll processes, as well as Workers Comp reporting.
• Determine and execute planning and operation of Snow Sports School pricing and programming to maximize market trends and expectations. Work with the Office Manager to determine and adjust ongoing Snow Sports Schools sales capacities.
• Develop policies and programs to promote Bittersweet’s Snow Sports School and ensure the Snow Sports School’s profitability.
• Oversee and guide the instructor training/certification programs to assure adherence to the American Teaching System and guidelines as presented by PSIA.

Minimum Requirements: Must be a minimum level 2 PSIA certified instructor with at least 5 years’ experience managing staff and have a strong understanding of current ski industry/teaching trends. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and basic accounting are also required.

Other Considerations: Snow sports supervisory experience preferred.
