    NY Helmet Bill Fails, Snowboarders Push for Alta Access + World Cup Returns to Squaw

    Skiers and snowboarders age 14 and younger will not be required by law have to wear helmets on the trails at New York ski areas. A bill that had been approved by the state senate, failed in the state assembly on Tuesday.

    If the bill had been approved, parents of children who skied and snowboarded without a helmet could be cited and face fines of up to $50. The law also would have required New York State ski areas to post signs advising skiers and snowboarders of the law, and to have a full inventory of helmets for sale or rent.
