XC Academy, First Chair's Major Milestone + How Mountains Inspire

Registration is now open for Cross Country Academy, the annual kick-off event for professional cross country instructors.

Scheduled for Dec. 1 - 3, 2019, in West Yellowstone, Montana, the event will feature three days of early season skiing on West Yellowstone’s famous Rendezvous Ski Trails.

Join PSIA National Team members David Lawrence, Emily Lovett, Greg Rhodes, and special guests for on snow clinics and evening presentations. Plus, share ideas and discuss techniques with nordic skiers from around the country. Attendees will also earn six Continuing Education Credits for each day.

Do Mountains Inspire Creativity?

An article in Psychology Today proves what most ski and snowboard instructors already know, explaining how mountains and the ‘experiential creation’ that goes into planning and preparing for a trip to your local hill inspire creativity. The secret is the “sense of awe” that being in a mountain environment engenders, encouraging outdoor enthusiasts “to take the time to create.”

First Chair Podcasts Hit Major Milestone

The First Chair Podcast hit a major milestone last week, reaching 200,000 total listens, as PSIA-AASI members continue to tune in and listen to host George Thomas chat with all kinds of snow pros to provide an entertaining and diverse range of instructional insight. You can listen to all First Chair episodes on iTunesSoundCloud, and Stitcher.
