Course for New Instructors

Whether you are interested in becoming an instructor or are just getting your teaching career started,  the Course for New Instructors is intended to give you basic information about what it means to be an instructor.

“The feeler, watcher, thinker, doer section and how you can use all four techniques in each lesson to cater to different individual students was helpful.” - Aaron Edlund

“This helped me re-learn the small everyday steps to focus on safety, and the trainer role as role model.” - Karin Spencer

“The video is a great tool—many a time I have had to tell people to slow down on the mountain. I think all passholders should watch it. It might help people think about the fact that little kids are on the mountain. It’s a good course, even for an instructor who is returning.” - Cameon Orel

“This was a good course to review some of the basics. The last video on Ride Another Day is quite impactful. I appreciate how they lay out the lesson plans, too.” - Cory Munsterteiger

Alpine Skiing Fundamentals

The Alpine Skiing Fundamentals course, written by PSIA Alpine Team member Matt Boyd, presents an in-depth review of the fundamentals, along with a look at their history and development. The course costs $40 for members. Upon completion, you earn two continuing education units.

“Great course.” - Ken Franson

“Great e-learning requirement for all instructors.”  - Drew Crosby

“I am taking as many online e-learning classes for my PSIA credit towards continuing education and for my Cert II. The courses are great and easy to help improve coaching skills.” - Cary Grawe

“Nice to see PSIA posting e-learning courses. The Alpine Fundamentals Course was well done.. It’s a good refresher before the season starts.” - Dale Johnston

“This course helped me get ready for the season. How we plan our classes should focus on keeping it simple and direct and always coming back to the fundamental we started with. I plan on retaking this test to see what else turns my attention.” - Kevin Williamson
