Snow Show Standouts: New Women’s Skis + Never Summer Snowboards

PSIA-AASI is on the floor at the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show in Denver this week, talking to the association’s Official Suppliers and  chatting with members. If you are attending the show, please stop by our booth to say “hello.” It is to the right of registration as you walk into the Convention Center.

From our suppliers, here are three new skis and snowboards that they think will be especially popular with professional snowsports instructors next season.

Never Summer Proto Ultra, Proto Slinger

It’s always busy — and fun! — at the Never Summer booth, where the Denver-based brand welcomes locals and snowboarders from around the world. New for next season is the Proto Ultra All Mountain Twin, with a new rocker-camber profile and a “WooBoo” (wood and bamboo) core, which Never Summer’s Tony Sasgen has in left hand. In his right is the new Proto Slinger Freestyle Asym-Twin, with the ability to boost in the park and bite on the slopes.

Blizzard Black Pearl 88

For 2020-2021, Blizzard introduces a brand new collection of their best-selling all-mountain freeride skis—Bonafide 97, Brahma 88, and Black Pearl 97 and Black Pearl 88—all reengineered with TrueBlend Wood Core, which strategically layers various woods down the length of the ski, and also across the width, like a grid, resulting in a perfectly balanced flex. The tip and tail are softer, which allows you to come into a turn with grace and exit smoothly. Denser woods through the center of the ski increase edge grip, speed, and control. Blizzard/Tecnica Director of Marketing Leslie Baker-Brown shows off the new Black Pearl 88.

Atomic Cloud Collection

Atomic’s Cloud Collection is one of the most successful on-piste ski offerings for women. As part of the brand’s #sheskis initiative, the Austrian ski manufacturer has reworked the line for next winter, introducing performance-enhancing features and a new, sleek look for each model. Top of the line is the Cloud 12 (shown by Oakley Almberg), which features the lightweight agility of the Flite Woodcore, Servotec technology, and two titanium inserts above and below the core for grip, damp carving and tremendous edge-hold.
