Register today for a free Basic Steps of Motor Learning in Alpine Skiing webinar, brought to you through International Association Snowsports at Schools and Universities (IVSS), an international education association.
Rado Pišo, PhD, Director at the Science and Research Centre of Koper, Slovenia and Member of Executive Board of SITAS Ski Instructors and Trainer Association of Slovenia, will lead this session Thursday, March 25 at 9 a.m. MDT.
He will discuss how ski instruction is a cognitive process in which the learners acquire new skills and thus enrich their motor memory while simultaneously developing the corresponding motor skills.
The process of teaching and learning skiing will be presented from the learner’s point of view. Attendees will learn about the mechanisms of the learner- centered approach to overcoming the spatio-temporal barriers in alpine skill acquisition. The registration deadline is today, March 23 at 3:59 p.m. MDT.
For PSIA-AASI members who are not familiar with IVSS, President Dieter Bubeck said, “The IVSS is an international organization with the mission to contribute to the development of snowsport for everyone in educational and training institutions. This means IVSS serves as a hub for sharing and promoting research and evaluation in snowsports. The scientific findings impact practice in educational and training institutions.”
PSIA-AASI Director of Education Dave Schuiling, who is a member of the IVSS Board, said, “As the newest member to the IVSS Board, I’m honored to represent the U.S. on this international association to push new ways to grow snowsports learning and teaching.”
