Interski 2023: Telemark Team on Guest Service & People Skills

Held every four years, Interski is an international event that brings together top snowsports instructors from more than 40 countries. The PSIA-AASI National Team attends to present their latest teaching techniques and get insight into new ideas to bring back home to members. The discussions that take place at the event help PSIA-AASI refine its approach to training instructors and improving the guest experience.

Here, PSIA Telemark Team Coach Gregory Dixon provides a preview of what the team will present at Interski 2023 in Levi, Finland, March 26 through March 31.

What are you most excited about in anticipation of Interski 2023?

It’s an awesome time for the team to rally together and share our knowledge with the skiing/riding world. I also love gaining knowledge and insights from other countries.

What are you presenting, and how does it complement the entire team presentation?

The telemark team is focusing on how we use people skills, guest service, and instructor behaviors to deliver our technical content in lessons.

Has preparing for Interski affected how you approach your clinics, lessons, and coaching?

It’s made me hyper aware of how students perceive the information I share with them. I ask myself, who is my audience and is this information pertinent to their development?

What are you most interested in learning from the other countries’ presentations?

How do they generate interest in telemark lessons. Also, how does Bastian Dyer from the Swiss National Team get such sick edge angles!

What does the Interski 2023 theme, “The Guest Experience is Everything,” mean to you and PSIA-AASI’s approach to snowsports instruction?

It is right in line with our organization’s main goals. We’ve always had a strong guest service focus. Now we have an opportunity to demonstrate how we focus on the guest.
