ISIA Speed Test Set for April 16 at Big Sky Resort
The ISIA Speed Test, a required component of the ISIA Card certification, will take place Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Big Sky Resort, Montana.
The card is the highest level of international snowsports certification. For full details of ISIA recognition, both stamp and card, visit the International Opportunities page.
Participants will have two runs to meet the speed test standard. Final results are based on best run, not a combination of the two runs.
“We are expecting up to thirty participants but can realistically handle a field size of up to one hundred,” said Paul Mannelin, Big Sky Resort Adult Program Manager, who is organizing the race. “With smaller field sizes, we’ll typically be off the hill by noon before the snow starts to soften up.”
The pace group for this race will be post-grad FIS athletes trying to make the Montana State Ski Team. The race will be held on Hangman’s, with timing and support from the Big Sky Ski Education Foundation. Standards will be determined by completing the course within the designated maximum time. Times are determined by FIS calibrated pacesetters and are slightly different for men and women.
This event is open to all PSIA-AASI members and certified members of other organizations such as BASI (British Association of Snowsports Instructors) and NZSIA (New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance).
For the best rate, register online. You can also register race day at Big Sky Resort in the lobby of the Mountain Sports Office, located in the Snowcrest Lodge.
