Atomic to Host First Ski Industry Climate Summit in Austria

PSIA-AASI Official Supplier Atomic will host the first Ski Industry Climate Summit, September 13- 14, 2023, in Salzburg, Austria, with the goal of bringing together key stakeholders and driving impactful change to address the urgent need for climate action.

Supported by FESI (Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry) and Protect Our Winters (POW) the event will also include PSIA-AASI Official Suppliers such as Rossignol, Head, Völkl, and Burton, among many others.

During the two-day congress, attendees will address critical challenges faced by the ski industry, focusing on material standards and innovation, circular systems, measuring standards, and effective communication strategies. By fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing, the summit aims to drive tangible solutions to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.

“We are proud to host the first Ski Industry Climate Summit and bring together key players from across the ski industry,” Helmut Holzer, Director of Anticipation & Advanced Research at Atomic, said in a press release announcing the event. “This summit represents a turning point, where major stakeholders can join forces, exchange ideas, and take collective action towards a more sustainable future. By working together, we can make significant progress in becoming an industry that is a role model in protecting our climate.”

Helmut said the summit is an industry congress that invites all stakeholders who can contribute to answer questions, such as:

  • What common standards can we use to improve efforts as hardgoods producers?
  • How can the ski industry secure less impactful raw materials for their products?
  • How can the industry establish a viable circular system for hardgoods?
  • How can hardgoods brands and retailers collaborate more efficiently?

By finding solutions to these fundamental questions, participants aim to develop actionable strategies that will drive the industry toward a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
