New Video: Why Inclusion in Snowsports Is Important

PSIA-AASI values lifelong adventures through education for all and is committed to making snowsports more inclusive and welcoming for everyone.

This new video celebrates how inclusion in snowsports creates a richer, more diverse experience for everyone.

“Inclusion on the slopes looks like we’re all here and no one gets left out,” said PSIA-AASI Board Chair Eliza Kuntz. “We all have differences and we’re all learning from those differences, and the learning environment is enhanced when there are more differences than there are those that are alike.”

No matter where you slide on snow, having an open mind and an inclusive mindset are important to creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.

“First of all, the snowsports that we have to offer — skiing, snowboarding, telemark, cross country, adaptive — are wonderful and I would love to have as many people as possible enjoy them,” said PSIA-AASI CEO Peggy Hiller. “So there’s a ton of opportunity for us to share our passions for those sports with so many people.”

The focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provides instructors with the ability to learn and grow from others.

“If we’re more inclusive and therefore more diverse, there’s more to learn, and that creates more possibilities for the future,” said Eliza.
