Course Description:
Course Name: Coaching High-End Skiing
Discipline: Alpine
Time: 2 Days
Environment: On snow on Advanced Terrain
Prerequisite Skills: Minimum Level II
Course Description:
This clinic will include skill development for coaching upper level skiing, movement analysis, prescriptive exercises, teaching methods and learning preferences. It will also focus on the creative use and mastery of practices outlined in the PSIA Core Concepts Manual. Only open to Level II and Level III Members. For those pursuing Advanced Educator, candidates will be scored at the Alpine Level III Standard.
Learning Experiences:
-- Recognizing what high-end skiing is
-- Understanding of how the five fundamentals are utilized on black diamond terrain and how they affect skier(s) performance
-- Creating an eye for movement analysis and effecting a change in performance by coaching movements
-- Understanding how high-end skiers think and why they are there for coaching
-- Creating prescriptive activities that will bring skier to a higher performance level
-- Understanding the use of different tactics due to conditions and terrain
-- How to develop a passion in skier(s) to continue on the path to higher performance on all terrain and conditions
-- How does equipment choice effect high-end skiing
