PSIA-AASI and PMBIA Partner to Bring Increased Education and Cross-Training Opportunities to Instructors
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (July 21, 2020) – The Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) partnered with the Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association (PMBIA) to bring year-round educational opportunities to ski, snowboard, and mountain bike instructors.
This partnership means ski and snowboard instructors can pursue education and training opportunities in the off-season so they can teach others to mountain bike, and mountain bike instructors can pursue education and training opportunities that will help them work as ski and snowboard instructors.
“This partnership is a natural fit because our two organizations focus our education and training for our instructors on a student-centered approach,” said Nicholas Herrin, PSIA-AASI’s CEO. “This means we focus instruction on the student’s goals. The training and courses our associations provide help our instructors learn how to make the process of learning how to ski, snowboard, or mountain bike easy to understand and fun.”
“This partnership aligns with our core strategy on many fronts and can help provide both organizations members the ability to expand their teaching expertise in the winter and in the summer months,” said David Gagnon, PMBIA Executive Director.
PSIA-AASI and PMBIA members can access education classes and attend events hosted by both associations. Members can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) from either association to stay current on their training throughout the year.
“We’re excited to provide our members with additional educational opportunities to help them expand their skillsets,” said Herrin. “Training and working as mountain bike instructors during the summer will help instructors attain CEUs to maintain their PSIA-AASI certification levels.”
The Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association is the not-for-profit, governing body for mountain bike instructor certification courses, within the mountain bike industry. PMBIA trains and certifies mountain bike instructors and guides to effectively teach mountain bike riding skills in both cross country and downhill environments, while guiding students safely on varying degrees of technical terrain. The PMBIA Certifications are the most widely available and recognized certifications courses in the world today.
The Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) is a nonprofit education association – and close-knit community – of more than 32,000 snowsports professionals dedicated to creating life-changing experiences for others through snowsports instruction. PSIA-AASI members give people the gift of freedom, health, and the ability to enjoy sports that will reward them for life. Members of PSIA-AASI are busy creating the future of skiing and snowboarding – the association is there to help make that job easier, providing the platform and support to ensure their success.
