Rider Rally Enjoys Huge Turnout at Big Sky

Rider Rally 2023 rocked Big Sky, Montana last week with over 70 attendees. Participants got a first look at what the PSIA-AASI National Team presented at Interski 2023 in Levi, Finland, and personalized coaching from AASI Snowboard Team members.

Here, AASI Snowboard Team and Assistant and Development Coach Tony Macri shares what made this such a memorable week.

This was the biggest Rider Rally in years. What does that mean for the event and snowboard instruction?

This was the biggest Rider Rally going back to a Rider Rally we did 12 years ago at Copper Mountain in Colorado. We’re so excited to see the amazing turnout from all over the country. The whole AASI Snowboard Team was at the event so participants had an opportunity to meet and take sessions from different team members. Next year’s event may be even bigger as participants return to their regions and tell their friends about the event!

What did you share from Interski and how will that carry into next season?

There were three ways we presented Interski information at the event:

  1. As we trained and coached on-snow we included the new concepts we learned from other nations as well as the content we delivered at Interski.
  2. We had many personal conversations at dinners and après about the presentations and some of the unique interactions we had with trainers from other nations.
  3. We held an informational presentation with images and stories from the event, sharing info on other on-snow and indoor workshops as well as the demos and other experiences at Interski.

Other top takeaways from the week?

The snowboard team has created tons of cool opportunities – such Trick Tip videos on social media and webinars on Zoom – that cover different discussion topics. Even with how connected we are digitally, we feel having personal interactions on-snow lets us make the strongest connections with members, so we are so grateful for the opportunity to connect with members at Big Sky.
